Retraction Notice to “Gender differences in mental health outcomes during the first COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in South Africa.”

It has come to our attention that the article entitled: ‘Gender differences in mental health outcomes during the first COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in South Africa’ which was published on 24 August 2023, in the 2022 edition of the South African Health Review has limitations in its applied methodology, in particular, the lack of sampling frame, that call into question the reliability and validity of the conclusions reached.
As a result, the editors, in agreement with the authors, have decided to retract the paper.
We urge our readers to exercise caution when citing or interpreting this retracted article in future discussions and apologise for any inconvenience that may have arisen.
